I would say everyone is inspired by them and influenced, by what is one of the greatest bands off all time.

Don't get me wrong I love the Stone Roses first album, but I don't think you can consider them a great band. Really great bands or artists consistently create brilliant stuff over the length of their careers. The Beatles, Zepplin, Prince, Marvin Gaye etc, they're great, Stone Roses made a great album but can't be put in the same category as that lot.

The music they produced in my opinion makes them one of the best bands.

Songs like I wanna be adored, sally cinnamon, I am the reserection etc, still sound fresh today.

more so meaning most people who post on here, not bands. Growing up in that era when the roses first came about.

at the time not everyone was into the roses...on the 89 tour loads of gigs were half full it wasnt until the album kicked in that it took off

and even then it wasnt really until fools gold that most folk took notice...i went to all but one of the 89 tour and i can tell you now there were not many "lads/casuals" in attendance...an example leeds warehouse 40-50 folk there most from manchester...2 months later leeds poly and there were hundreds locked out...tickets passing hands for big money and still not many of match going folk there...yeah there were a few but not many

as for influence...the roses influenced loads of bands but not the bands around today...they are now a legend and one that needs to stay buried in the past...let the myth live

The music they produced made for a great album, but to be a great band you've got to release more than one great album.
